Having a calm supportive birth environment in labor can have a positive impact in your birthing process, reducing stress and can promote the natural progression of labor. Choose your birth team wisely. you don't anyone in the birthing room with you that can off set triggers making you upset. This can cause you labor to stall. When choosing your birth team be sure to go over your birth plan ensuring they understand your wants during labor. In any setting you can dim lights, play calming music, or utilize aromatherapy scents. If you have a Doula in the room the Doula can maintain the soothing atmosphere by offering relaxation techniques like a massage or simply just a quite place where parents feel supportive and grounded. Communicate your environment preferences with your provider and your doula. This information should also be included in your Birth Plan.
